The sandy stretches of beach along the shores of New Providence and Grand Bahama Islands are one of the main reasons visitors come to The Bahamas - for a little relaxation by the surf and sun. Cable Beach is perhaps one of the most popular beaches on New Providence, with great facilities and water sports and close to shops, restaurants and bars. Cabbage Beach is the spot of choice on Paradise Island, a three-mile stretch of sand on the island's northern side. Xanadu Beach on Grand Bahama Island is close to Freeport's resorts with a wide stretch of sand and tranquil waters. There are both secluded and touristy beaches on both islands. You'll find more options for water sports, dining and entertainment on beach like Xanadu Beach and Cable Beach, while Grand Bahama's Gold Rock Beach and Barbary Beach are more secluded and scenic. As are New Providence's Love Beach, which is a great place to snorkel. Wherever you choose to spread out your beach towel, there will be smooth expanses of soft sand, and shallow, relatively calm ocean water in which to wade.
